Welcome to Illuminate Indy
// Friendship, Food & Discovering Faith //
At Illuminate Indy, we want you to be comfortable amongst our community. Simply come as you are. We wear casual clothes in our gatherings. No need to bring your suit and tie (unless you really want to). You can also expect to be welcomed by our host team, who are excited to make you feel welcome and help in any way.
In an effort to create more meaningful community time as we gather to elevate Christ, we’ve adopted a model of gathering that we lovingly call “Homestyle Church”. Very simply, this means we gather together at 4pm on Sundays and begin with a community meal. Illuminate Indy contributes a main course each week, but others within our community contribute side dishes, desserts or anything else they’d like. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the meal, but it is not required to join us. If you are unable to contribute, come join us for dinner anyway!
Once we’ve concluded our meal, we transition to our service together, which is usually 60-70 minutes long. We begin with a time of worship. This is an opportunity to celebrate the good news of the gospel with music. Nursery will be available for kids aged up to Pre-K, and elementary ages will join us all for worship until the message portion of the service; at which point they will go to a class tailored just for them. Adults will then hear a gospel centered message from one of our pastors, bringing you real-life application from the scriptures. We also create space each week for individuals to respond to the message through discussion and prayer in “Huddles” (smaller groups lead by Illuminate team members). We also take time monthly to celebrate communion together.
Illuminate Indy’s story began in late 2015, when God began the process of calling and sending a group of people to the city of Indianapolis, IN to join in the kingdom work of Illuminating Christ and making His disciples. In 2016 this group began meeting weekly in their homes, and in the Spring of 2017, Illuminate Indy began holding weekly public services. We also gather in homes weekly across the city in Community Groups.
We believe the church is not a place, but a community drawn together by Jesus.
